Maqbool Fida Husain was born September 17, 1915,in Pandharpur, India. He first became known as an artist in the late 1940s. In 1952, his first solo exhibition was held at Zurich, and over the next few years, his work was widely seen in Europe and USA. In 1966, he was awarded the Padma Shree by the Government of India  In the following year, he made his first film, Through the Eyes of a Painter. It was shown at the Berlin Festival and won a Golden Bear. Husain went to school in Indore, and ibn 1935 he shifted to Aamchi Mumbai.He got admission in the J J School of Art. He started off by painting cinema hoardings. He was a struggling artist until his painting was first exhibited in Bombay, and  today he is a very great artist. M.F.husain believes in painting abstract paintings, and he has had exhibitions right from Frankfurt to Delhi. At the age of 37, he emerged a brilliant artist....and at the ripe age of 90, he's still raring to go!!!
